Must-See Home Games

If you're picking which games to go to, here's where we'd spend our money.

  1. May 9 vs Chicago Sky. Home Opener. The first WNBA game in Portland in 24 years. Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso visit with a rebuilding Sky squad. This will sell out. The atmosphere will be unlike anything Moda Center has seen. If you go to one game all season, this is it. What to expect that night →
  2. May 12-14 vs New York Liberty. Sabrina Ionescu comes home. The Oregon legend, No. 1 overall pick, 2024 WNBA champion, four-time All-Star. She spent four years in Eugene becoming the only NCAA player ever to reach 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, and 1,000 assists. This is the homecoming. Two games. Buy both.
  3. Jul 31 vs Indiana Fever. Caitlin Clark in Portland. She broke the all-time NCAA scoring record, led the WNBA in assists as a rookie, and tripled Fever road attendance in 2024. This is the single highest-demand ticket of the season. Kicks off a five-game homestand. Buy early or pay secondary market prices.
  4. Jun 17 & Aug 8 vs Seattle Storm. The PNW rivalry. Portland vs Seattle means something in every sport. These games will have edge. The June matchup is a Commissioner's Cup game with prize money on the line.
  5. Aug 2 vs LA Sparks. Cameron Brink grew up in Beaverton. Local kid returns as a pro. This one will draw the Oregon basketball crowd.

Tickets

Portland built massive season-membership demand before a single player was drafted. This is a hot ticket.

  • Single-game tickets: Available at fire.wnba.com/tickets and through Ticketmaster. Expect them to sell fast for marquee matchups.
  • Games that will sell out: Home opener (May 9), Caitlin Clark (Jul 31), both Seattle games. Buy these early.
  • Best value games: Mid-week games in June and July against non-marquee opponents. You'll still get world-class basketball in a great arena at a better price.
  • Secondary market: StubHub and SeatGeek will have resale tickets. Prices will be highest for the opener and Clark visit.
  • Group tickets: Contact the Fire ticket office for groups of 10+.

For parking, transit, food, and first-timer tips, see the Moda Center game day guide. Coming from a Thorns match across town? Check our Providence Park game day guide too. Different stadium, different sport, same city that shows up.

Portland Fan Intel

Here's what the official schedule page won't tell you.

  • Best value games: Tuesday and Wednesday nights in June and July. Non-marquee opponents, same world-class basketball, shorter concession lines, and secondary market tickets at face value or below. The June 11 Las Vegas Aces game is the exception. A'ja Wilson will fill the building on a Wednesday.
  • Transit is the move. MAX Light Rail to Rose Quarter Transit Center drops you at the door. From downtown it's 5 minutes. Driving is fine too, but the Rose Quarter garage fills fast for marquee games. Free street parking in the Lloyd District (NE Multnomah) is a 10-15 minute walk.
  • Pre-game spots: The Sports Bra in NE Portland shows every game and is the unofficial headquarters for Portland women's sports fans. Spirit of 77 is a 5-minute walk from Moda Center. Both will be packed on game nights.
  • Double up: If you're making a whole weekend of it, check which Thorns or Cascade games overlap on the combined calendar. Portland is the only city where you can catch three different women's pro teams in the same trip.
